Viewfinder + Webcam = Macro!

Quick and small experiment using a Canon XL1s detachable viewfinder and filming through it with a JB1 webcam.

It has really short dof and macro focus which gave it that strange feeling and dreamlike quality. Of course it has such shallow dof because it's supposed to focus on the tiny screen inside the viewfinder's arm, so to speak. But it's a hell of an expensive magnifier if you think about it! These are some cool captures and you can see the full video if you like, it's 3'20" long. Please also note that the original minimum focus distance the webcam has is like 30 or 40 cms.

Midnoon XL1s video test

Just by chance while reading the stats of this very site I saw somebody came through Google Video, so to my surprise it was already online even though I've received no notification from them it had been approved. Here are some captures:
01 leaves
02 plant
03 flowers
04 dove
Anyway, you can see the full video, with music by lastfuture, courtesy of the massive Google servers.

eMule as never before

I had to say sth about it:

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! :O

Cornyland

I could have been worse. In fact, I have plenty things to tell here, or to give my opinion/review/comment about here. But instead of those interesting topics, I'll just show you a small drawing I just did. I started adding flowers, then clouds, and then I felt like it was naive enough already. Maybe I will make a proper ironic illustration about the subject somewhen in the future.

The Sidewalks Project

I had some idea a few weeks/days ago while walking somehow bored and enjoying the subtle sunshine a peaceful sunday midnoon on my way to the bakery store. I had my jb1 with me, so I took several pics of the sidewalks I encountered on my path. I posted the result (which I liked very much btw) to the tfttf's forum. I made an almost 4x4 mosaic with them:
sidewalks
Fellow users at the forum seemed to like the idea, so they made their own mosaics. The thing got pretty interesting soon. Anyway, I took another (bigger) set of photos yesterday and was able to make a 8x8 2.0 version:
Sidewalks 2.0
There is one blurred, and one with my own foot on it, but it's pretty nice I think. I made myself look like a seriously crazy person. Picture a fellow walking down the street and stopping each time a sidewalk change, extend his arm in 90º to the front for three seconds, then walk again. do that 64+ times.

I was lucky enough I didn't end up locked away on a straight jacket. Can you imagine my speech? [i]"Hey no wait I'm not insane i was just taking pictures of the sidewalks around on my neighbourhood for an important project!"
